Mission Statement
The SEMVMA mission is to offer member veterinarians quality continuing education, to encourage public awareness of pet health issues, to serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas, and to promote a sense of community among veterinarians.

Continuing Education for Veterinarians
SEMVMA sponsors CE from nationally known speakers on a variety of topics. The SEMVMA CE series provides national quality single day CE in a local convenient setting, all at a discount to SEMVMA members.

Ethics and Grievance
The SEMVMA Ethics and Grievance committee provides a means of communication between unsatisfied or disgruntled clients and member veterinarians. We provide this service to our members in an effort to provide both veterinarians and their clients with an outlet other than involvement of the state licensing board.

Business Management
SEMVMA provides business management CE directed to practice owners, practice managers, staff and those who have interest in practice ownership in the future.

Continuing Education for Technicians
SEMVMA provides multiple CE presentations throughout the year specifically for technicians and technical staff. These sessions help to ensure that your entire clinic stays current and member veterinarians can send their technicians at a discounted rate.

Zoo Fundraisers
SEMVMA holds several events during the year whose proceeds benefit the Detroit Zoo. It is partly through our contributions of over $1,000,000 that the zoo has recently completed construction on their new state of the art hospital.

Scholarships
SEMVMA provides scholarships for veterinary technician students at Wayne County Community College, Macomb County Community College and Baker College.

SEMVMA works closely with the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. Through our representative within the MVMA board we ensure that issues important to you are also addressed on a state level.

Leader Dog Support
SEMVMA sponsors an annual 5K Run/Walk with proceeds benefiting Leader Dogs for the Blind.

Social Events
SEMVMA works to bring our members together and provide networking opportunities by sponsoring many social and fundraising events during the year including; the golf outing at Tanglewood Golf Club, Run Wild at the ZOO, Leader Dog Run, Harold’s Holiday Party, and installation dinner.

The First Year Is Free!
First year graduates are given a free year of membership.

Everyone wins when you join the SEMVMA. You, because you become eligible for all our programs and benefits; the Association, because we are enhanced by the addition of a peer and professional who contributes his or her special unique talents to our growth and development.

Please take a moment to download a membership application, and return it to our office. Commit yourself today to contributing to the philosophy, ethics, and high standards of our vital, progressive organization. Remember that your membership fee is TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
